UK Hotshots Blossoms - In Full Bloom

Nominated for a prestigious Brit Award and in the midst of a massive two-continent tour, Blossoms are already taking 2017 by storm. We managed to catch up with the band after their concert in Berlin.

Building on their huge success in 2016, which saw their first full length being awarded for the best-selling debut album of the year,  the up-and-coming indie band from Stockport near Manchester appear set for even greater things this year.

They've been nominated for a Brit Award as best 'British Breakthrough Act' and continue to sell out bigger venues on every tour. But if their recent show in Berlin was any indication, they're already well known far beyond Britain's borders.

Packing a club in the German capital on a Wednesday night, the band jetted in from London right before going on stage. The last-minute air travel allowed them to make a special appearance earlier in the day on BBC Radio 1, where they played their new single 'Honey Sweet' and did a surprising cover of 50 Cent's 'In Da Club' for the Live Lounge programme.

Yet instead of sapping their strength, the whirlwind UK detour merely appeared to get them revved up for their Berlin concert, where they rocked their fans with a blistering set including their hits 'Charlemagne', 'Getaway' and more.

After touring Europe, Blossoms will return home to the UK for a spate of shows before heading off to Canada and the United States. There they will play several festivals, including Coachella.

Still, the boys are certainly not letting their dizzying ascent go to their heads: As affable and approachable as ever, the band even took time after their show in Berlin to speak with Sound Hub. "Tonight was our favourite gig of the tour so far," said lead singer Tom Ogden.

The Brit Awards takes place February 22. If you're a UK resident, you can still vote for Blossoms as 'British Breakthrough Act' here – but hurry before the voting closes! And be sure to catch the band on tour this year in Europe and North America.
